Today, Kelvin is a proud owner of a thriving farm. He boasts of producing an impressive 5,000 heads of cabbage every 3 months. The field uses irrigation methods that ensure that vegetables are grown on a continuous basis. Kelvin’s farm has become a model of sustainable agriculture in Chinyunyu. Kelvin is among the farmers that are feeding Rufunsa district by meeting the daily requirements of green, fresh vegetables.
With the UMINO loan Kelvin has also diversified his business by growing his small soap-making enterprise. His affordable bar soaps are made from fresh raw materials from his farm. Kelvin’s soap business has not only provided an additional source of income but also helped to promote his farm’s produce, creating a loyal customer base.
